To me, dance is the profound connection of conflict… conflicting ideas, conflicting bodies in space, conflict within the body. Movement is arbitrary, absurd, and devoid of meaning while simultaneously being undeniably meaningful and intensely impactful. The investigation of conflict generates art breathing with life and the spirit of exploration.
The art of performance is the harmony of the artistic and the analytical brain that coexist within me… the artistic feels while the analytical curates. I view performing as a personal exploration of a real-time experience with people witnessing. My search as an artist is to cultivate deep sensation in myself and others through embodied movement.
I find that improvisation is the purest form of human expression… there is something profoundly beautiful about the unplanned generation of ideas. Movement is a tangible expression of the deep unity between imagination and the body for the self and others to experience.
The world feels more full of uniqueness because my view is tinted with the lens of art… every aspect of life has infinite potential for inspiration. Movement is the most visceral sense of exploration through life. Dance is unable to be defined… it is ever changing… as am I.
